Is your dog a nervous wreck around Guy Fawkes? Its time to start thinking about training and changing this! I’m going to start posting some tips in regards to Guy Fawkes prep and aversion by dogs to other noises…Tip one -First and foremost you need to be sure you are and are acting as a strong leader who is not stressing about the loud noises outside and most certainly not cuddling/ coddling your dog, thus actually praising and encouraging the nervous behaviour.2. Provide a crate, covered by a sheet or blanket for your dog to retreat to. Get your dog used to this BEFORE Guy Fawkes.A crate is a good place for your dog to feel secure, it is den like and the dog has a smaller area to protect if he/she is still is feeling he/she has to (leaders are not home or you are not truly the leader)
