Dog Behaviour. Inapproprite Dog Mounting/Humping…

Inappropriate Dog Mounting/Dog Humping -
It is important to remember that dogs do not share our views on what is anti-social behaviour. Or behaviour that is a little too friendly.
A dog mounts/humps because he or she is aroused and that does not have to be sexually aroused.
Arousal is a broad term that basically means your dog is in a heightened or charged state and this also covers stress and excitement.
Do not growl at your dog for mounting.
It can be important to find a stress or anxiety relieving alternative, some dogs have comfort toys they like to suck on for example (the favourite ‘Fluffy Duck’).
Dogs will also react when their owners are stressed or there are changes in their environment. I have seen mounting increase when new babies have come on the scene. The dog is usually getting less attention and the environment can be stressful.

At the dog park my dog had a friend, another male, and they used to greet each other like old friends, hump each other a bit, play and run together and tussle then go on their merry way. The owner of this other dog had no problem with her dog acting in this manner so we just let them have their fun. No dogs were hurt and they were allowed to exhibit this dog behaviour. So what I found, as it applied to my dog, was that he humps probably because he just likes it - it feels good - and he can. I guess the only real way to find out would be to ask him.

Usually I recommend to my friends to buy “Brain Training for Dogs” Program to train their dogs. This is an ebook and online training program that aims to develop the dogs brain to increase focus and ability to understand commands.

This is a truly effective program and a steal at its price compared to the hundreds of dollars that you might pay to have a dog trainer teach your dog valuable skills. It’s an easy understandable product designed to train your dog and developed by someone who’s a professional in the field.

Not only does it build your bonds but also increases your dog’s thinking abilities. The only potential problem is the fact that the included videos have some sound issues. Adrienne (author) can be heard in them but the sound is a bit interrupted because of the wind or distance. However this is a minor setback against all the good that the program can do.

I won’t claim that you only need one book or video to give you a good knowledge of raising a dog: in fact I would advise against it. Buying two or three books and reading them thoroughly is the sensible thing to do. At then end of your reading I am confident that “Brain Training for Dogs” will give you a vast amount of important information that the others don’t even mention and will be the book that you regularly refer to whilst educating your own dog.
