Dog Training, Teaching the Command ‘Leave’
Teaching the very useful command, ‘Leave’.
We use this for cat’s etc…
Teaching ‘Leave’ -
This is when your dog will step back from the animal/person or object.
*Choose another word if you are using this word already for a different action.
How to teach -
Keep hold of a extra tasty treat in your hand and wait for your dog to lose interest - which he or she will eventually. The instant your dog turns and moves away, exclaim “Leave!!!” and offer the treat.
Repeat this sequence at least ten times until your dog visibly moves away from your closed fist as soon as you present it to them and say “Leave”, Selina McIntyre, Dog Behavioural Consultant, Dogs Best Friend.
